Nas is the son of jazz musician Olu Dara. He was born on September 14th, 1973 in New York City. His mother is from North Carolina and his father from West Africa, specifically Senegal. Nas first became known worldwide with his 1994 album Illmatic. The album has been ranked among the best albums of all time by Rolling Stone, Time and many more publications. Nas' follow up albums have also been well received but have not reached the critical acclaim or commercial success as Illmatic.. In 2018 a new Nas album was leaked online a week before it's release date... Nas has stated that his goal is to make music that will live on forever. His first album Illmatic is often looked upon as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. Nas has received praise from critics and fans around the world for his unique flow, clever wordplay, and insightful subject matter. Nas has built a reputation not only for being an extremely talented MC but also for having the ability to produce hit singles, as evidenced by his output since Illmatic. He has worked with several producers including DJ Premier, Large Professor, Pete Rock, L.E.S., DJ Clark Kent and Jermaine Dupri among others. He has also rapped alongside hip-hop artists such as Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Outkast, DMX, Eminem and Dr. Dre. Nas was the first hip-hop artist to be featured on MTV's Unplugged series in 1996. Nas later appeared on The Wake Up Show (a radio show based out of New York City) with DJ Envy and Angela Yee to discuss his latest album Untitled (2008). He revealed that he plans on releasing three albums in 2009, one of which he hopes will be recorded by DJ Premier. Nas also confirmed that there will be a video accompanying the track "Queens Get The Money". Nas has had feuds with many rappers, including Jay-Z, Ja Rule, Ludacris, Common and even his ex-mentor Large Professor. Nas has had an ongoing rivalry with Jay-Z since 1996 when Jay-Z questioned his abilities on the song "Takeover". The feud sparked up again in 2006 when both were involved in the successful 50 Cent versus Ja Rule feud. Nas released a new single titled "Last Real Nigga Alive" off of his albumHip Hop is Dead (2006). Nas is also known for the feud with Ja Rule in 1999. The feud began when Nas dissed Ja Rule on his song "Hate Me Now" off of his album It Was Written, however, the song was removed from circulation for unknown reasons. Not long after the incident, Ja Rule came back with his song "Shake Ya Head" which sounded similar to "Hate Me Now". Nas responded by releasing a freestyle over it called "Halftime". As of March 2008, both rappers have settled their beefs and are working together on future projects. cfa1e77820
